Shag, Last of the Plains Buffalo
Published in Library Binding by William Morrow (January, 1900)
Author: R. M. McClung

happy memories
As a child I remember this book as the first I read and gave me the desire to learn more about the west and the days of the pioneer spirt. As I approach the time of becoming a grandmother I will cherish the time I will spend reading this book to my little ones over and over again.

All time favorite children's book
This was my favorite book as a child. It is meatier than the typical children's tome, and filled with simple yet real life information about the buffalo and its environment toward the end of its heyday in the 1870's. I highly recommend this for any parent who wants to introduce their child to a slightly more challenging story that will stimulate the brain and encourage a more advanced intellect, without sacrificing the charm and innocence that a children's volume also needs.

An exciting Adventure.
This is a story that will hold your interest all through the book. It has excitiment, thrills and a few chills. You feel that you are there, living the events along with the people in the story. Good clean reading for all ages. 8 to 80.

Spirit of the Buffalo
This book is available as I own one. This is a great book and begins where Runs with the Wind leaves off but doesn't lose you if you haven't already read Runs with the Wind, which is the first in the series. Both of these books have a lot of excitement and keep your interest until the end. This book is great for all ages everyone in my family has read and enjoyed this book. It is a new western in the old family style.

Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill Paper Dolls in Full Color
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (June, 1991)
Authors: Tom Teirney and Tom Tierney
Average review score:

Exquisite costumes
This is a great book. It includes an Annie Oakley doll, her husband Frank, Buffalo Bill, and Sitting Bull. It also includes a brief biographical account of Annie Oakley. The costumes are beautiful, and there are more than 10 for Annie. Each dress in the book actually existed and it tells what occasion the doll wore it for. This book is worth every penny, and is a must for fans of the Old West and paper doll buffs of any age.

The Band of Merry Bandits (Buffalo Frank's Campfire Tales)
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (September, 1994)

My 3 year old loves this book
This frontier story is a favorite of my preschooler, I think because the two main characters, young girls, confront the fear of "monsters" while gathering flowers for their mother's birthday. The fears of night, being lost, and "monsters" are all addressed in a way that my son finds reassuring. He asks to read this story a lot. It's nice to find a story that doesn't involve commercialized characters with pre-determined story plots. The artistry and text are pleasing for the reader.

UNUSUAL AND CREEPY!!!
Checked this book out in our local library about five years ago and I must say, this book is as good as any Jeff Long book or Dean Koonz book. This book literally gave me the creeps. In fact it was so good I am going to purchase a copy for myself off of Amazon.
The story is very unusual in that it is unlike anything I have ever read before. Far fetched but at the same time scares the daylights out of you just thinking about it.
Lets face it. Opening up a door and looking down into a bottomless pit in your home with creatures in it, that are coming after you is enough to hold the interest of the most avid horror reader.
Highly recommend!! This is one of those finds that knowone knows what you are talkin about when you mention it to them, until now! You won't be disappointed!

Bright Eyes and the Buffalo Hunt (Books for Students by Students)
Published in School & Library Binding by Landmark Editions (October, 1995)
Authors: Laura Hughes and Nancy R. Thatch
Average review score:

A must for every home
I can't imagine an eight-year old more talented or beautiful than the young Laura Hughes. The rich textures and lovely colors of her illustrations are a delight to the eye, but the finest part of this elegantly constructed narrative is the clever, subtle way it tackles gender stereotypes in mid-90s America under the mask of 19th century Native American culture. Since this book, Laura Hughes has become a daring young artist, a prolific playwright, and a world-renowned webmistress, as well as a graceful and charismatic young woman; the seeds of her talent are apparent in this fine freshman effort.
